The opportunity to see lean tools in another environment.
Ability to get on the shop floor. Practical application of can do atmosphere of Genie.
Being on the Gemba - completely different process. I loved working with the Italians seeing how the lean tools traversed language barriers.
What did you learn that you will implement in your company?
I want to spend more time on the gemba! - the unit - Want to watch the flow and learn from that to identify waste, etc.
Clearer understanding of TAKT time and its importance when looking at level loading. The truth is on the Gemba.
I learned and will implement to see waste by being patient and then acting on ideas and "fail forward". I will also implement flow lines by standardizing work. I will also set up mixed model lines that will produce to TAKT time by utilizing kanbans.
Just do it - try for 50% today - don't wait for perfection. Was very evident when working with a process that we knew nothing about - needed to observe then test changes.
