Basic Criteria for Contracting

Top leaders commit to certification in Lean tools.

Minimum three year contract.

Add no people, no space, and no new equipment and spend no money.

Adopt the principles of the Global Production System (Takt Time Paced Production, Pull Production, and One Piece Flow Production).

Establish a Kaizen Promotion Office staffed with personnel approved by John Black and Associates LLC (JBA).

Certify top management as Lean Leaders and Kaizen Workshop Leaders.

Develop a Tier 1 "as is" and twelve (12) month "future state" Value Stream Map and supporting Tier 2 (Product/Service Line) Value Stream Maps, "as is" and "future state."

Participate in JBA "Wash Your Hands" Training – a week long Kaizen event at a mature JBA client site.

Develop and implement a Lean Training Matrix (will include top leadership participation in Japan training led by master senseis who were students of Taiichi Ohno).

Develop and implement five (5) year Lean Business Plan for deployment of Lean starting with Model Line 1.

Commit to remove any identified barriers to implementation and be ready to throw out traditions which no longer work.

Build and utilize Lean Visibility Room (Strategy) and Standup Meeting Wall (Tactics) as specified by John Black and Associates.

Formation and monthly meeting of Lean Leadership Team (Top Executives plus John Black and Associates) to report and track progress.

Conduct Rapid Process Improvement Workshops (RPIW) - Kaizen events - according to John Black and Associates, consulted by JBA.

Develop and implement policy for "anchor draggers." Functions and managers to be evaluated in terms of VA/NVA criteria.

Define and implement redeployment policy for people freed up by RPIW's and Lean Production.

Deployment of Management by Policy (Hoshin Kanri).

Establish Lean Accounting system.

Transition from functional silo organization to Product/Service Line Team approach.

Adoption of 3P Production Preparation Process before any major capital expenditures are made applying the 7 flows of medicine.

Implement Supply Chain Management as consulted by John Black and Associates.

Implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Autonomous Maintenance as consulted by John Black and Associates.

Conduct major Product-Patient/Quantity (P/Q) Analysis as consulted by John Black and Associates.

Adopt the Lean Depth Study methodology of identifying non-value added functions to flatten and streamline the organization.
-
Ongoing external training as identified above.
